Mr. B’s 2024 Bluegrass Spectacular Announcement for Dogwood

Attendee Update and Brunch Plans!

Hello Dogwood Folks! This is a second call for the upcoming Mr. B’s Bluegrass Spectacular on May 2-4, 2024.  So far we have eight Dogwood Families signed up:

And we can take a couple more – Ms. Billy Sue has set aside 10 spots for us – all together. If more sign up, that’s fine, you just might not be right next door to us. But that’s OK because the campground is easily crossed in minutes from wherever you get parked.

The directions and signup sheet are shown below.

Jean and I are finalizing the meal plans and I think you’re going to like the brunch menu. On Wednesday evening (for you early arrivers) we are doing a potluck supper; Jean and I will bring fried chicken for all. Feel free to bring an appetizer, sides, or dessert to go with it.

Brunches for the next three days will be as follows:

·       Pink Pancakes (Gluten Free and yes, they will be pink. Our secret recipe...)

·       Bacon, syrup, butter

·       Eggs to order

·       Oranges & Juices

Saturday morning, 9:30 am - Quatro de Mayo instead of Cinco de Mayo– Margaritas, with

Hey Dogwood! Time to get your Bluegrass on! Mark your calendars for Mr. B’s Spring Music Spectacular on May 2-4, 2024. Three days of bluegrass music for $95 and four (4) days of camping (water & 30-amp electric) for $130. (Or 3 days of camping with water and 30-amp electric for $100 – see the flyer). No sewer, but sewer clean-out service will be available.

Tickets for camping and music can be had by calling Ms. Billie Sue Goff (personal friend of Ed & Jean and General Manager of the event) at757-660-8904. Please tell her that you are part of, or coming in with, the Dogwood RV club.

Your hosts, Jean and Ed Herbert, will provide brunch on Thursday, Friday and Saturday mornings before the bands start. Speaking of bands, there are 15 bands scheduled over the three days with music workshops and jamming sessions tucked in between! The music starts on Thursday at noon, while on Friday and Saturday at 11:00 am. Then it runs until 10:00 every night.  No dinner breaks appear on the schedule, but there is a nice little cafe in the big pavilion behind the stage, and sometimes someone in our club will offer up dinner. Most importantly, bring your comfy lawn chairs; set them up at the start of the concert and leave them there until the end (or move them around as needed); but nobody will bother your chairs – this is, after all, a traditional bluegrass festival! Come and go as you please.

The Park gates open on Sunday, 4/28, but we (Jean and Ed) will roll in on Wednesday, 5/1, to set up. Please consider joining us then. Brunch on Thursday, 5/2, will be at 10:00 am; brunch on Friday and Saturday will be at 9:00 am.  Margaritas may be served...Please complete the Registration Form below; rally costs will be $20 per person. Please send the registration to Jean Herbert along with a check made out to Jean (Not Dogwood!)

So, 1) call Ms. Bille Sue Goff at 757-660-8904 to get your site and tickets, 2) fill out the registration form and mail it with a check to Jean,  3) pack your special lawn chairs, plus chairs to sit on for the brunch, and  finally, 4) pack any musical instrument (except pianos and tubas) you can play.  Questions? Call Jean at 540-760-4181, or Ed at 540-760-4180.

See you there!

Some directions:

Going to GEAR in Lewisburg, WV soon?

I'm planning for Dogwood Chapter's usual gathering at this Eastern Area of FMCA event.  Heavy hors d'oeuvres suitable to be our dinner before entertainment one evening has always been a nice time together. I have requested our room from Phyllis Britz and Sue Cipa.  Not sure when and where yet we will meet but be prepared to prepare your food contributions.

Text or call me if you are attending and I will make a group text to let you know exactly what is happening.  See you soon!
